Why don’t overweight men show up at Weight Watchers meetings?

There are plenty of overweight and obese men, but I seem to be the only guy at the Weight Watchers meetings I’ve attended. And it’s not like Jenny Craig, LA Weight Loss or the others are any different. Are men just not “joiners”?

    It is more socially acceptable for men to be overweight or obese than for women to be so.

    I think that there are a number of reasons why fewer men show up for Weight Watchers meetings. The entire weight loss industry has focussed its advertising more on women for one. Men will try to fix the problem themselves and tend to be more “self healers” and less social.

    I actually used the Weight Watchers online program for most of these reasons. I was attracted by Weight Watchers men specific program. Oh, and yes, I did lose the weight and continue to keep it off!
